August!!!! And some big news!!!

We’re weeks into August and I just realized I never made an August post. So here it goes!

I’ll drop in some September news in this so keep reading.

This Saturday is our quarterly service class. If you’d like to learn to maintain your own machine we have a special class from 2-4pm Saturday August 23rd to learn this! Molly will help you take your own machine apart and you’ll learn everything we do in a general service. This class is designed for mechanical machines only (no computerized machines please. They take more time to take apart) You’ll clean, oil and grease your machine and you’ll learn about tension and timing and all the magic we do here. Machines should work but don’t have to be serviced before this class.

You can now find the link for any of our classes right here on the website. If you would rather pay at the door, that’s fine, just let us know you’re coming so we can save your spot.

Sue Lanigan is teaching visible mending in a long class on Wednesday the 27th at 11am. This class teaches slow mending and a variety of different techniques. You’ll make a sampler and get hints on how to use those skills in all sorts of other places. She’ll be teaching this class the last Wednesday of every month with us

Open sew!!!

Wednesday the August 27th at 2-6 and then Sept 20th and the 24th. These are open studio days. Bring anything you’d like to work on and come play. You’re welcome to use any of our machines and tools. This is a community building event.

Upcycle linens is a two day class on August 30th-31st where we’ll take your vintage finds (quilt, table cloths, pillow cases, whatever) and find a pattern together that fits your find and day two we’ll sew it into wearable art.

This is taught by reuse specialist/ and master tech, Molly McCay.

In September we begin an every other weekend program for adults that will focus on quick projects that build a skill!

We aren’t leaving kids out on this! We also are offering a kid club on opposite weekends that will focus on teaching fun projects that will build confidence.

These are going to be so much fun. For the month of September all projects will be focused on zippers!

Come learn!!!! Seats are limited

Thank you for trusting us!!!

In the meantime, there won’t be a disturbance in our service.

Continue to find us at 541 Southlake Blvd .

We’re still working about 2 weeks out and have 27 machines waiting for service with 43 waiting for pickup

Please pick up your finished machines quickly so we don’t have to move them to the new shop. Most machines are finished within 3 weeks.

We do have a variety of vintage, new and used machines for sale . Mention this blog and I’ll give you 20% off any in stock machine purchases (including our new Necchis)

Huge thanks for all the things you do to make us what we are!!!
